Coach Paul Day has been a teacher for 20 years and is an original jaguar. He was head football coach at Owensville High School before coming to West. He is the varsity head coach and coaches the varsity offensive linemen. He played football at Missouri Valley College where he was a two time 1st team All-Conference linebacker. At North Tonawanda High School, Coach Day played football and basketball. He also played football at Stephen F. Austin High School (1st team All-District linebacker).
Coach Day is at West because he believes that West is best. If he weren’t putting in long hours making sure West is best, he would probably be a police officer like his dad and two brothers.
His favorite movie is Braveheart; his favorite performer is Billy Joel. His favorite football player is Bruce Smith. Coach Day loves to wood work.
He is married to Jennifer, and they have three children: Joseph, 21, a former jaguar player; Jessica, 19, a former jaguar manager; and Tanner, 17, a current jaguar.
Coach Bryan Watkins has been at Fort Zumwalt West for 11 years, although he has been teaching for 20. He is the assistant head coach, the defensive coordinator, and he coaches the varsity defensive backs. He attended University of Central Missouri where he was a four year letterman in football (honorable mention All-Conference linebacker). At Chillicothe High School, Coach Watkins played football (2 time 1st team All-State linebacker, state champs), wrestled (district champ), and golfed (state champs).
Coach Watkins enjoys the people of West and the community. His wife grew up in O’Fallon, so he knew this was a terrific area. If he weren’t teaching, though, Coach Watkins would be managing a Quik Trip.
Coach Watkins’ favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption; his favorite group is REM, and his favorite football player is Howie Long. He is half Australian and taught Albert Pujols in class in Kansas City.
Coach Watkins is married to Leah and they have two children, Brennar, 10, and Lilly, 6.
Coach Neil Nowack has been teaching for 8 years, 7 of them here at Fort Zumwalt West. He is the offensive coordinator and coaches the varsity quarterbacks and is also the assistant varsity basketball coach. Coach Nowack attended Pittsburg State where he played football and attended Owensville High School, playing basketball, baseball, and football for none other than Coach Day. In High School, Coach Nowack was named 1st team All State quarterback and Post-Dispatch Offensive Player of the Year.
Coach Nowack teaches and coaches at West because he is able to work with incredible students and appreciates the opportunity to live in a great community, but he says that if he weren’t teaching, he would have obtained his degree in construction management.
His favorite movie is Gladiator; and his favorite group is Alabama. His favorite player is Derrick Thomas. He grew up on a farm, raising and showing cattle.
Coach Nowack is married to Elizabeth, and they have three children: Sophia, 4, Lucas, 2; and Peyton, 1.
Coach Michael O’Bryan has taught science for 9 years and has been teaching at West for 8 years. He is the Varsity defensive line coach and special teams coordinator. He attended Eastern Kentucky University. Coach O’Bryan also attended Owensboro Catholic High School where he played football (All State tight end), basketball, and baseball.
Luckily for West, Coach O’Bryan’s wife is from the St. Louis area, and they settled in this region. Coach O’Bryan feels lucky to be at West and be a part of this great football program. He says that if he weren’t a teacher, he would probably be a firefighter.
His favorite movie is Braveheart; his favorite group is Poison; and his favorite football player is John Riggins. Coach O’Bryan is our local expert on horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby.
Coach O’Bryan is married to Kelly, and they have two children, Clayton, 4, and Kaylee, 1.
Coach Jimmy Meyers has been a coach for 9 years, two as a volunteer. He is an original jaguar, but as a student and player, not as a coach. He currently coaches the varsity inside linebackers and is the JV defensive coordinator. Coach Meyers played football at Missouri Valley College. While he was a jaguar football player, he was a two time captain and was name All Conference linebacker and offensive lineman.
He always wanted to return to West to coach because he knows what a terrific program this is. If he were not headed into education, he would probably own a lawn care business.
Coach Meyers’ favorite movie is Hangover; and his favorite performer is Eminem. His favorite player is Charles Woodson. Coach Meyers works on drag-racing engines and is part of a drag-racing team.
Coach Chad Towers has been in education for 16 years, the past 5 of them as a guidance counselor at West. He currently coaches the varsity running backs and is also the head boys’ basketball coach. He attended Washington University where he played baseball (All Conference UAA) for four years. While in high school at St. Charles West, Coach Towers played football, basketball, and baseball. He was named All Conference and All District in all three sports.
Coach Towers followed his younger sister, Dr. Samantha Sutton, to Fort Zumwalt West because he knows West is best and moved his family into the area.
His favorite movie is Rocky II and he loves the group Rush. His favorite football player is Joe Montana. Coach Towers is a St. Charles County dart champion.
Coach Towers is married to Hally, and they have two children, Hannah, 9, and Maddie, 6.
Coach Tim Fine has been coaching with the West program for 4 years and currently coaches the varsity wide receivers. He also coaches youth basketball and youth soccer, ages 6-14. He attended Truman State University where he was a three year starter for the Bulldogs. He also attended University of Missouri, Columbia. At Mexico High School, Coach Fine played football (All Conference, All District 1st team) and ran track (two years All State).
Coach Fine is at West because he respects both the program and the head coach. If he were not spending his free time coaching, he would probably be a chef.
Coach Fine’s favorite movie is Braveheart; his favorite performer is Michael Jackson; his favorite football player is Drew Pearson. He loves to play tennis, and he can cook quite well.
Coach Fine is married to Becky, and they have three children: Tyler Ann, 19; TJ, 17, who is a current jaguar; and Mikey, 11.
Coach Ric Troupe has been coaching at Fort Zumwalt West for 9 years. He is currently the varsity offensive line coach. Coach Troupe played football at Central Methodist University and at Hazelwood West High School. There, he also ran track and played basketball.
Coach Troupe became involved with the West football program after watching his brother play for Coach Day. He became an assistant the year after Charles graduated and has been involved with jag football ever since. He actually has a job that is not in education; he works for MOHELA and is grateful that the company has allowed him the flexibility to be able to coach.
His favorite movie is Gladiator; his favorite performer is Jay-Z. His favorite football player is Ronnie Lott.
Coach Troupe is married to Shannon and they have two children, Tre, 4, and Lauren, 1.
Coach Mike Rimmer spent 35 years teaching before retiring in 2009. He is an original jaguar, spending the last 12 years of his teaching career at West. He currently coaches the freshmen team, as well as the quarterbacks, running backs, and linebackers. Until his retirement, he was the head baseball coach here at West. Coach Rimmer attended Missouri Valley College, playing both football and baseball. He attended Fort Zumwalt High School and played football, basketball and baseball.
Coach Rimmer must really believe West is best because he drove 45 minutes to work everyday, and continues to do so, even though he’s retired and could be selling beach chairs and umbrellas in Florida.
Coach Rimmer’s favorite movie is John Wayne’s The Quiet Man; his favorite performer is Jimmy Buffett, and his favorite football player is Larry Wilson. Interestingly enough, Coach Rimmer scored the very first touchdown in Fort Zumwalt High School’s history.
Coach Rimmer is married to Susan.
Coach Rod Murchison is new to the Jaguar coaching staff this year, but he is not new to the Zumwalt District. His is a South High grad, where he currently teaches PE. He coaches the freshman defensive backs and quarterbacks and is the freshman offensive coordinator.
Coach Murchison attended Missouri State and is glad to be coaching at West. He says if he weren’t teaching, he’d like to own a restaurant at the Lake. Goodfellas is Coach Murchison’s favorite movie, his favorite football player is Howie Long, and he believes he does the best Vanilla Ice karaoke around.
Coach Murchison is married to Britton, and they have a son, Merrick, 2.
This is Coach Danny Zull’s first year coaching. He currently works for the Wentzville school district as a paraprofessional. After graduating from St. Charles West, Coach Zull attended Southeast Missouri State University where he earned his degree in PE. He would be a police officer if he were not in education and coaching.
His favorite team is the St. Louis Rams; his favorite player is Jack Youngblood. Coach Zull’s favorite movie is Rudy, and his favorite performer is the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra.
